Twins make a big move

I can't believe the Twins picked up Joe Crede. I think this could be their year, whether Crede is healthy or not. Our 5 starting pitchers are all veterans now, we've got decent bats, the White Sox DON'T have Joe Crede. Twins are also looking into a veteran reliever, Jaun Cruz. If Delmon Young can work out the headgames and learn to catch a ball we'll be set.

It must have been an incetive ladden contract because he originally wnated $7 million for 1 year and you know the Twins would never do that. I also heard a few weeks ago he was only 75%, but he must have passed a physical. Hope it works, a RH bat with 30 hrs & 100 rbis would be sweeeet!

From what I read, it a $2.5M contract, but with incentives, he can make $7M. I hope it works out, he can be one heck of a player when healthy.

Is this April Fool's in February?  That definitely is a big pick up.

I'm torn between jumping up and down or screaming, "go home you Chi-town bastard!" I'm too used to hating that guy.

Listened to Sid Hartman/Dave Mona do a short interview with him today. One nice thing is that there is one less Twins killer in the Sox lineup!!!!!

Contract info that has been released is very dependent upon him staying healthy. Bonus for 250 plate appearances, number of games played over 120 promotional appearances etc...

I will be happy with 20-25 HR and 100 RBI's out of him and it fixes a weak spot in the field as well. Now if they can swing a deal for Cruz we will have a great chance this summer!!!!!!!!!
In my lifetime I have seen fence row to fence row farming and the return of CRP and game to the landscape. Now we face again the prosepect of fence row to fence row again! Sportsman are our own worst enemy in that we fail to look forward and focus to much on the now!

MLB and WWE, whats the difference? You could give me free tickets to a MLB game and spending money and I wouldnt go. It was bad enough when the knock on MLB was how boring a 180 game season becomes, now, we find out its a fraud! Virtually every big time player the past 20 years was a steroid user and a liar.

Watching a MLB game is about as brutal as trying to stay awake for a half hour viewing of Kent Hrbek outdoors. Its one thing to be big and stupid but good at hitting a baseball. It's quiet another to have cave-man speech qualities and try and put on a quality half hour outdoor show. Wow is that show poor.

I thought for sure Buscher was going to get a full year and show people what he can do. He had a great year last year and was looking for more out of him this year. He became my favorite Twin last year. I Joe will do fine but I know Buscher would have batter .300 with over 100 RBI's. I know he would not have had 40 homers........ but I don't care.

I need to catch up on my Twinkies.  They let Buscher go?  Or is he still on the squad?  I hope so because Buscher was one of my favorite Twins.  I will say, however, that he was in a slump for a bit but what do you expect with having to always come in cold.

The Pioneer Press's Kelsie Smith reports that the Twins actually put Pat Neshek on the 60 Day Disabled List to make room for Crede. I didn't realize that was an option yet, but that is an even better option.

I get a lot of my Twins news here:

Buscher is a pretty good ballplayer. He fits into the "small ball" style of play that works so well for the Twins. With Crede's back problems I think that Garde's wise enough to keep Buscher around as a strong backup.

Back in '06 Jason Tyner was my favorite Twin. He was 90 lbs wet but knew how and where to hit the ball. he even had a home run that one time! He was great defensively as well. Oh well, I'll get over it.

Now if Garde had let go of Punto, that would have burned the bridge. I know that the Twins have a hard time finding room for him but heck, even if he's on the bench, at least we don't have to play against him! That guy is a nightmare for batters hitting shallow left. Glad he's still on our side!

If he stays healthy it changes everything. The M&M boys, Young, Cuddy, etc. They all get better pitches. I love the Twins style of play. But with small ball our big hitters can be pitched around. This maybe changes that. We could see a big power surge with everyone because on this one addition. Can't wait.

BUSCHER getting 100 RBIs HAHAHAHA that makes me laugh....and our pitching staff is not a bunch of veterans either....least starts of any staff entering the season boys......that doesn't=veterans in my book....they will win 87-92 games probably miss the playoffs again

Buscher hit 47 RBI and 218 at bats... that means every 5th at bat he is scoring somebody. Give him 620 at bat and that is 124 RBI's. Pitching with a young staff still but they all have a year of under the fire pitching. They came through. Relief was the problem, even Nathan gave up some games which was unreal.

620 at bats hahaha what do u want him to bat in the top half of the lineup too??? and play everyday??? the twins had 1 player with over 620 at bats last year, and to say that a guy with 300 career at bats could handle 600 at bats in a season and have 100 rbi's is just silly....

p.s. Punto is the worst player in Major League Baseball
