Super Loads

Along with new shotguns this season we have new waterfowl loads,Kents "super steel" (1550fps) stepped it up a notch 1625fps! WOW! the old saying about steel is that speed kills.

Personally I don't shoot steel,but if I did I would give this load a whirl.

I shoot remington Hevi shot in "B" and duce loads,very lethal,brings back memories of lead...This season envirometals is coming out with new Hevi loads,hevi steel for one(waterfowl) and a new version of Hevi shot,machined round and in heavier payloads,up to "T" shot size,they call it their cyot load.I'll bet it will make a heckofa goose load:-).

FYI

Nice spelling Tim,"coyote load" in 10ga and 12ga "T" shot,curious to check this out because Hevi shot(remington)is tear drop shaped and patterns really well,not super fast but still 1330fps,more like lead and alot faster than any bird triing to make a run for it...;+}

Been watching the prices,still about $1.80/shell,but remember this,sure its will cost more money up front,however you will also shoot less.With steel most times it takes more than one shot to kill your bird,how many times do ya feather a bird and watch it fly away?Not with Hevi shot,this stuff is as good if not better than lead.

Example; 3 years ago when I was jumping back and forth from bismuth and tungsten I tried Hevi.1st compared all three on the pattern board at 50yds(3"),hands down Hevi blew the other's away,bismuth was 2nd with down range energy and penetration.

What put the frosting on the cake was during early goose season that year,we were setup in a wheat field in layouts and coming in low,my side was a single,low,just off the deck,the 1st shell was 3"Hevi 4's,followed up by 3.5's in duce.Waited until his feet were down,smoked him dead.The range finder mark'd him at 60yds,so my guess it was a 55yd shot.My buddy thought I was shooting the 10ga,nope showed him the shell,"never herd of it" he said but I'm buying some!

Well after close inspection this bird had two broken legs,both wings were broke,pellets in the neck and head and 7 more pellets enter'd the body cavity and I was using a mod factory choke(full steel).Nasty stuff!huh?

Don't shoot much over water anymore but when I do I use left over steel or bis for cripples,from my buddies of course...;-}

Heh, it only costs less if you manage to hit things!! The past couple of years I swear I need to tape my head to my stock to keep it down. I keep peeking up. It's really quite frustrating. I guess I need to spend some time targeting before I get out in the field this year.

Bummer!

Just found out that Remington is out-of-the loop next year with Hevi-shot! That tic's me off... Sure hope "envirometals" can keep the quality.

Thanks for the FYI whitesmoke,I did check it out but the stats on Hevi are still greater both in weight and density and I see federal also is triing to market their version of "Hevi-steel" all of which are better than any steel loads.Fot the money I'll stick with Hevi.

I am curious how enviro-metals will do marketing and manufacturing Hevi shot now that remington is out,hope they learned a few things about loading ammo...
