eyexer Said:
I saw one what you call a buzzer beater via the shot clock in six or eight games I went to this year. so that argument really doesn't hold any water. since the shot clock these kids just go down and take the first open shot, good or bad. it really drives me crazy.
44magman Said:
As far as the shot clock, one of the most exciting plays in basketball is the buzzer-beater. A shot clock gives you lots and lots of chances for a buzzer-beater during a game instead of just four. And yes, for some games the shot clock will make little to no difference, like last night's championship. But think about a 2-0 first quarter with Shiloh stalling against Turtle Lake in the Region 5 Championship.

So if one of the games you went to would have had seven buzzer beaters, then my arguement would be valid? You can't take somebody's opinion and say it "doesn't hold any water" because you went to a half dozen games.

I'm converted. Class B does not need a shot clock. The decision-making is so poor and the ball control skills are so lacking that a clock is pointless. Carrington darn near pi$$ed a 12 point lead down their leg late in the game. Free throw makes by their point guard is the only thing that saved them at the end.

It's called High School basketball. Most of these KIDS are 15 to 17 years old. Watch enough games in the D1 tourney going on now and you'll see some poor decisions and ball control even at that level as well. I guess I look at it as you can either complain about it or sit back and enjoy the fact like you mentioned earlier, it's a bunch of kids playing their hearts out for the home town/towns, while putting on a pretty good show for the rest of us.

Congrats to Carrington on the tittle.

Congrats to Berthold for representing Region 8 so well at state. It was a heck of a show!!!!!!!
re: ND State Class B Basketball Tourney

posted by: Farnorth.
I'm converted. Class B does not need a shot clock. The decision-making is so poor and the ball control skills are so lacking that a clock is pointless. Carrington darn near pi$$ed a 12 point lead down their leg late in the game. Free throw makes by their point guard is the only thing that saved them at the end.

re: ND State Class B Basketball Tourney

posted by: eyexer. That was a great game. Berthold really came on at the end and had a couple good chances to tie it. Hats off to Carrington.

A shot clock wouldn't have done anything. I'm not sure it would have affected any of the games I saw. I take back everything I ever said about needing a shot clock.
The B is still exciting basketball. Kids playing their hearts out for their home towns.

re: ND State Class B Basketball Tourney

posted by: whitetail addict. wow i couldnt agree more!

re: ND State Class B Basketball Tourney

posted by: gst. If that championship game didn't provide enough excitement, I doubt a shot clock would have helped. Class B basketball aint broke, don't try and fix it.
