Red River (North) - Saturday, July 30, 2011

Don't usually post reports, but since I go pretty much every day, I figured I would start sharing. Went out Saturday afternoon, north of Fargo with the intent of just going and catching my own bait. Caught a small frog and threw it out on a bobber just outside some flooded brush. Caught five decent eating size cats in the 2-4 pound range before my frog wasn't really usable anymore and I was too lazy to try and find another one. Small bait= small cats. I'm a sumo hunter :D

I saw numerous other people come out and the only thing I saw anybody catch was one drum on nightcrawler. So live frog is the best bet now. However; I've noticed for night fishing, around the 12a-3a time frame, sucker and golden eye in the channel are working really well for 10-20# cats right now. Even if you aren't fishing a break.
