Report Details
been fishing the red lake river out of east grand forks lately and have been doing really good. Far above average weights i normally catch every year on the red lake. Got a nice hole i found and have been catching pigs out of it every time iv been there. Think the red river lost a lot of big fish due to the high river levels? seems like the cats have been hiding out in the slower moving water. Just my opinoin

WELL YOUR OPINION WOULD BE RIGHT! even catfish, who can handle high current have to take abreak once in awhile and slack water is an obvious spot for fish to rest, and while they are resting they wil not turn down the opportunity for a snack.  Alot of times though you will find big kittys right in the main channel during high water hugging the bottom and waiting for snacks to come by.  just look for current breaks in the main channel, there will be seams that  actually have very little current where kittys love to hide, that is why alot of fisherman love to fish near dams for them. you find that seam and you will find fish just stacked and have fun all day long.
