Fished the river last night. Despite the bad weather the cats were very active, along with the occasional carp and gold eye. We were getting fish every few minutes. we didn't catch any monsters, mainly 15-18 inch cats. I'm guessing they are kinda hunkered down from the weather. but it seems like they want crawlers right now. I think next time I'm out I'll throw on some gold eye, see how that works.

Fished Sunday evening at Midtown. River is down but it has a much higher than baseline current. Goldeyes are back but current makes them tough to target. No success besides a goldeye on a twister tail, people catfishing but they didnt catch anything.

Fished the river Wednesday night 5/15/13, launched from the down town landing in East Grand Forks, MN. Fished for 2 hours caught 6 fish all had decent size to them. Lost a really big one at the boat due to small net. But the action was none stop, fished with suckers, current was ripping pretty good. The landing was very easy to access, but i do only have a 13 1/2 foot boat. Normally each year the city will come to clean it o0ut with a back hoe and i do know they havent done that yet, so if you have a bigger boat might be some what challenging, with the mud build up in the eddy.

Hit the north dam today looking for some walleyes. Was fishing a yellow jig w/ a fathead minnow. The action was pretty slow. I lost a good sized sauger a few inches from shore, and managed to pulled in a smallmouth bass and a small walleye.

Went out on sunday on the maple river/ sheyenne dam and got 1 pike and 1 bullhead. Fish were biting decently off a floater jig and 1 oz weight off the bottom but they would get snagged in the flooded brush. i'll be going out again this weekend to try for some more fish.

Fishing for Catfish has been great, with fast and furious action, as soon as your line hits the bottom. Size hasn't been the greatest with 12 pounds being biggest, but as each day passes you will start seeing bigger fish.

Good luck!

Got my first couple fish of the year today. Caught a 24 inch Channel Cat (first time ever for me) and a little 6 inch bullhead. Fishing from shore in downtown Grand Forks, dropped a gob of nightcrawlers on a hook right behind one of the railroad piers. Plenty of nibbles and bait stealing before I hooked up. Love working right next to the river, I can just walk over and toss a line in on my lunch break.

I wen't down to the river in south Fargo this evening, pulled out 2 pike (each around 30in) and a smallmouth surprisingly. Unfortunately those were not my targeted species. Anyone else locating any eyes in or around town these days?

Not a report-
I have only been in the Fargo area since 2010, so whats the score when it comes to fishing the river when it floods out. Is it even going worth going out and trying when it gets so high? Any info is appreciated. Thanks

I'm sure glad I was not discouraged by yesterdays lack of action on the north side of Fargo. I found a spot in the southern part of town that had an area of open water, and that was quite productive. In 3 hours I ended up with 2 eyes, and 2 pike. Jigs and Fatheads were the ticket. All caught on a slow retrieve along the bottom. Get out there while you still can. I'll be back out tomorrow if I am not sandbagging.
