We fished the East side of the North Ramp on the big Red right by the log jam from 11-3 Sun. afternoon. The water temp. was 69.6 F water speed was about 8-10 MPH. We caught 18 cats in the 5-15 lb. range the biggest one was 20lbs. caught by my 8yr. old her first cat ever. We used med. suckers. So good luck, I know we had fun.

feeshassassin,
No, it's not illegal to use goldeye as cutbait, they are a rough fish. It isn't legal to use game fish though. The river at Drayton just got back into the banks so it's muddy along shore and it rained all day yesterday but when it clears up the goldeye should be in the river, and when they are the cats are there feeding on them. |

Is it illegal to catch goldeye and then cut them up and re-use as bait?

Fished Old North Forks Landing last night. Awesome. Caught many in the 10-12 lb range, several from 14-17, and a few in the 18-20 lb range. We used goldeye, and 4 oz weights seemed to be perfect for the current level. Had 2 break off, some pretty nice fish overall. Size of the goldeye pieces didn't seem the have a factor, as most of the bigger fish were caught on larger pieces. Haven't shore fished in a LONG time! Fun stuff aside from the wind/rain.
