Went out on Saturday with my dad. I have been after walleye and perch for the last couple years, but went back to how we started fishing, for cats. Went to the first spot and the we're probably 6 or more cars there shore fishing. Went to the Seco d and the water was so low couldn't launch the jon boat. End up farther norther and found a spot to drop it it. Wefinally had line wet at about 530. Didn't take long and we wereally getting hits. Figured out the pattern And we were landing 12 in cats left and right. He want some to take home and smoke so we moved and ended up hooking in a couple decent ones. Ended up cathing probably 50 cats, 4 or 5 goldeye, a suckered and carp. Had 2 poles rigged for walleye, but only had one instance where my minnow was eaten in half. Was using a 1/2 Oz jig head tipped with a crawler. Had a plain hook with a minnow for the eyes.

Went with a friend to the river; had two poles with chicken livers and two with crawlers on jigs. Picked up a goldeye and a carp with the worms. Witnessed one small cat being caught, although I do not know what the guy was using for bait.

Went out yesterday afternoon to the north boat ramp and caught 2 goldeyes about 16 inches on a 2-4 ft sinking crankbait. Also caught a 26 inch 8lb walleye with a jig and mr twister tail. Lots of people out there and lots of snags. I prolly lost 6-10 jigs and so did a friend of mine.

Went out on the Red on sunday night and had a lot of fun with active goldeye. Slip bobbers set at 2 feet + minnows with enough weight to keep them down just off the current yielded a lot of bites. Quite a few people were out and only one walleye caught in the 2 hours I was there. Things should get better as the water warms up this week hopefully.

Well a couple times now I have tried to find some walters in the Red around Fargo.  So far I have found some rocks and leaves.  Was out last week pitching jigs, went out today at lunch and the water has dropped about 3 ft.

There's open water for a few hundred yards up at north dam. I'm not sure what the early season will bring, but I'm sure going to try.

Just wondering if anybody has been fishing the Red River  or Red Lake River around the Grand Forks Area. I  have been fishing the Red Lake River and have had probably the best year ever but  it seems like it has shut off as of the last two weeks. Wondering if this has warm spell shut things down or if its just the spot im fishing died off completely. would like to here if any body has been fishing the Red Lake or Red and hear some story's about what's going on out there.

As the previous user said, the walleye are biting in Fargo.  We have been having success the last few weeks between 5 and 630pm.  What they are hitting on varies depending on the day and where you go.  Good luck out there
