Fished 3 spots in Fargo last weekend. Fished the rock dam in south Fargo and 2 drainage confluences up north. No takers on the day. Used minnows and jigs. Went up north near Hillsboro area and river is still pretty frozen solid. Checked out the sheyenne and other tribs near Fargo and Hillsboro and they were all either frozen or very shallow. River levels are way down this year.

Was up at the north dam a few days ago just to see what it looked like. The river is open for a few hundred yards past the dam, though I doubt there are to many fish around yet. Considering giving it a shot one of these days, but I got to remember to get a new license first.

Fished the red in Wahpeton, had a hit on a tip up with a smelt.  Jigging with a minnow had some bites but could not hook anything.

Fished the Red in Saturdays blizzard.  Picked up one small walleye and one skinny 17 incher from 4 to 630pm.  Both came on a full sized minnow on a small spoon.  Marked a lot more, would like to throw a camera down the hole next time.  17 FOW.  Ice was 12 inches or so.

Hit the Red for the first time this winter.  We were in south Fargo near the Rose Coulee.  Ice conditions were good, pretty solid 9 in near the middle of the river.  The goldeneye were out in full force! No walleyes to speak of but the piggies are out there!  Anyone else been out around Fargo lately??  How is the Wild Rice confluence looking?

We've been fishing the last month or so at least once a week and the walleye bite has been HOT!! What is amazing is that there are so few people taking advantage of such a great fishery. I have fished numerous canadian provinces on what are considered prime walleye lakes and do not see the quality of fish that are within a half hour or so of Fargo. I know some would probably like to keep it a secret, but most, like me are not able to get out as often as one would like and so I share...The river has been very muddy since the heavy rains and so numerous limits have been caught where clearer water comes into the river ie. tributaries. Frogs and suckers have caught almost equal numbers of fish. Typical river bottom rigs with #2 or #1 baitholder hooks, 2-3 ounce weights. Numbers of walleyes caught are nothing extraodinary, but the size and weight are great! Average sizes have been 18-21. Largest this fall was 29 for me but I have seen several larger. Lots of Saugers mixed in too.

Was out last night from 6-9:30 pm in Fargo. Fished the southern part of town, using plastics. Did well. Caught a few smallies, a hammer handle, and even a 19" walleye. Was quite pleased with the choice to check out the Red. Good luck out there.
