Went down to the Red last night with a few buddies to a few of the usual spots. We ended up getting our limit of walleyes in just a few hours. I hope the bite stays this hot all the way through fall.

We had a heckuva night on Saturday. Caught two of the biggest cats I've ever seen come out of Fargo, much less out of the 32nd Ave dam. Caught my first walleye there too.... but my brother from California successfully FLYFISHED FOR GOLDEYE. Check it out -- just finished putting the recording together. And, yes, those cats are that big -- you wanna doubt me, I'll send you the measurements.:

Hit the Red twice this week. It was pretty slow, but still managed a few kitty cats.  Also caught a large snapper and had an eel pout jump off at the shore, so that was neat.

Fished south of Fargo Sat night.  Landed 8.  Most were smaller 2-5 pounders, but did land one giant 35" that was an absolute tank.  Easily over 20 pounds.  Everything caught before dark was on frogs.  Half the fish after dark were on cut sucker and the other half on frogs.  Not even a nibble on goldeye.  Best spots were fishing areas with holes and snags combined.  Didn't talk to anyone else having any luck.

I've heard people catching rock bass, smallmouth, and sunnies on the river.
What do they catch them with? and what kind of spots should I find to catch them?

Hit the river this afternoon with Mkoze and a friend in south fargo. Caught quite a few sheepshead, and smaller cats. But  the good news is MKoze ended up catching a nice 8-10 lb cat on a sucker. The action had stopped and my other friends rod got hit hard by something big and almost pulled it in, it put up a good fight but the bad news is it broke off and we didn't get to see what it was... Probably a trophy fish.. Haha anybody else been on the river lately?

That being stated my brother and I tried the goose, had success but not with the usual suspects. first off he tried sliced ham and imlike??Hmm ok and he told me it had instant and good success with it caught 1-2 lb fish regularly and often. jighead chunk of han wait a minute and you have one  put up a nice fight.and went after the bait hard no messing around.problem is im not usre of the fish species we caught font think its goldeye beause theya re similar to carp and have the suck mouth correct? these things had big pointy teeth and liked to snap their jaws( no lipping those things LOL) whitish color and scales, super bait aggressive. tasteddecent but bony like a northern. if nothing else they will be good cutbait to chop up and bag in the freezer.

If you people don't know what the best bait for cats is try frogs. yeah I know most of you probably know this just good luck finding and catching them. I have a spot where its right next to the red in the short grass and shelterbelt is very close to the road. see em jump sneakup on them and grab. plus a frog should last through 2 cats
