I've got a line on'em alright,in fact if your around this weekend you can shoot mine and maybe I'll bring the xtema 3.5 so you can compare.

Are you a right handed shooter? The benelli comes in 3 different version's,wood, black synthetic and camo synthetic(three version's of camo)

Welcome to the site lenny. There is always some light at the end of the tunnel I guess. I would not over look the beretta though. Great gun, in my opinion, but the benelli is also an excellent choice. Good luck with the new purchase.

I've also been saving my cabela's points for the SBE II, but like you said tony, it's tempting to use points on other items.

Any other guns that others on the site recommend?

I will have both benelli and beretta at the shoot this saturday for folks to shoot. These guns will be in the 3.5 version.

FYI

Pete, these two guns are at the top of the food chain in auto loader's,you will issue's with the other's,trust me...

Something more affordable would be a pump,870,bps and the nova are good sturdy shotguns and won't let you down in the field.

Yeah Tony,A-5's are sweet, have two that are retired because of the steel shot issue, best dang waterfowl gun there back then,32"barrel's 3" #4 lead shot was deadly, also took more than my share of pheasants with that same payload.Only problem was when your gun went down for whatever reason it took a couple hours to break the gun down, longer if you needed parts, thats why I had two, always had a backup.

These days the benelli does'nt miss a beat and if something happens(rare case)like sand or grit in the receiver,30seconds and the gun is broke down, very simple and convenient.

I see there are replacement barrels for the A-5's,made in japan and are built to shoot steel.

Tony,

I have not used any of my points since I opened the card. I pay the card off each month so basically instead of writing 50 checks a month I write one...and the best part it that I get the points. Anyway, I've got you beat in the point count and could probably get the SBEII but when I think about all the other stuff I could get that would save out of pocket it's temping...like shells, etc. I shoot a nova right now and it's a great gun. So it's more if a "do I really need a $1k gun to shoot birds" thing. Who knows what I'll do, maybe next year I'll get a SBEIII or whatever the next best gun will be!
