Fished the big lake friday and saturday just out of warroad for northerns, caught a few, missed a ton! Biggest caught was 39 in and 17 lbs. Ice was very good still, about 40 in, access was getting a little flooded. going back up this weekend!

it might of been ballards, but it was like 200 camper/trailer houses, really run down, no effense but really run down and you weve through those untill you get to the landing and then your on. A how are the ice conditions now with all the snow and now the melting, probaly coming up next weekend, any tips (4-wheel,snowmobile, or still trucks,or is it melting to quick to have a truck) and what has been working and a good area and certain reefs.

Fished Lake of the Woods Fri, Sat, & Sun 2-4 Mar. Had good luck jigging on Friday, but the rest of the weekend a bobber was the way to go. Most of our fish were under 17in. But we did get several between 19 and 24. A good weekend and a great way to spend my birthday.

Fished LOW last weekend 18and 19th out of borderview resort, caught around 50 fish mostly between 10-16inches and one 27in eye that probobly would have went 8-9Lbs, the active fish were suspended 10ft off the bottom in 29ft of water, all in all a good time

Was at lake of the woods last weekend, actually just the 27th, we were way the heck out there i think my dad told me like 16 miles out, went out of Babblers or something like that wasnt slow and wasnt fast but we caught 15 in a few hours and only kept 6, i had lots of fun got to try out my salamo and new vexlar and they worked awsome i got half the fish with my salamo, first time i caught walleyes through the hole in 2years!! because of hockey.

how has the fishing been by oak island any one herd. Why dont many people talk about lake of the woods on north star especially when it is one of the most talked about fishing holes?

Never heard of people catching anything on Mille Lacs in sleepers. Hoped to be worng but thought I would have better luck on LOTW. Maybe back in the day you talked about the "ladies" helped people catch something?? Don't have time to see a Dr. when I get back. Thanks for the info Rasta.

the reefs up on LOW can be awesome this time of the year. Hit and miss closer to home base. It is just a tough time of the year pretty much anywhere. Have you looked into Mille Lacs? I know they have some sweet sleeper setups, everyone rember the girls that used to frequent the ice, ahh the good ole days. Roll up a fatty for thsi pimp daddy. Rasta Rasta Rasta Hey

Heading up to Lake of the woods for my first time mid-Feb. Want to stay in a sleeper. What would be better during this time frame. Arnesen's or Wheeler's? Is the bite typically slow during that time? Can someone give me a better optoin closer to the metro with a sleeper, ride to fish house, and Walleye/Crappies/Northers....mostly walleye.
