hello everybody heres a story for you dog lovers a little strange but true. last sunday while in south dakota for a fishing trip, i was loading the truck to go home my dogs stay close to the truck when the kennels go in. went in for dinner came out dogs were still close . father in law bought a used shotgun he wanted to shoot a few times so we set up the thrower in a field about 100 yards form the truck dog s were playing in the yard. now my dogs are a german shorthair pointer and a lab husky mix both are avid hunters are usally are not gun shy but sometime between the first shot and the last shot the shorthair disappered. we looked and looked but could not find her . the inlaws said leave the kennel and we will bring her home on friday if she shows up. now more background their home near strandburg sd mine goodthunder mn aprox. 200 miles okay so as the day continues we return home and call about 6 hrs to check and see if she came back nope.. the next day the in laws let people in the hood know about my missing dog so be on the lookout. monday night comes i call to check on things and still no dog. tues work as usual i come home sit at the computer writing posts on this site and the phone rings the voice asked if i had a shorthair i said i did until she dissappeared he said he had found her so i asked her fate (thinking the worst) he said she had a couple of bad wounds on her legs but she was still in one piece i asked where he found her he said canby mn approx. 40-50miles from where she started and about 150 to here she was headed in the right direction its amazing he had taken her to the vet to have her checked the wounds are infected and he couldnt sew them up they were to old and might make them worse but gave her antibiotics and food and water that leads to today when i get her back 3hrs there 3 hours back now she is home extremely wore out and very docile not bad we missed her and we are glad shes home.. i thanked the man who found her about 100 times it was awesome. also it amazing what a dog can do by the way she is 13yrs old and can still run like the wind but not for as long as she used to. i hope this story was a good one to read and if you every lose a pet make sure you have a tag on them this is also to let you all know i cant seem to be able to keep vac/dog license on her so i got the kind you put the collar threw i have had it for seven years and it was full of dirt and hard to read the vet cleaned it up and the rest is history. sorry i dont double check my spelling and dont puncuate good at all . i hope you enjoyed this take care and thanks for reading it....

Dogs must have a sixth sense about homing in on their residence...I've heard of similar situations such as this one, and even greater distances.

I am happy for you!
