DNR pilot honored for law enforcement and conservation efforts

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Capt. Mike Trenholm was named Safari Club International’s (SCI) 2009 Conservation Officer of the Year during a recent meeting in Washington, D.C.
“You have been a true champion for law enforcement as well as conservation in Minnesota, and your efforts are greatly appreciated,” said Joseph Hosmer, SCI vice president.
Trenholm, DNR’s chief pilot, was praised for integrating rotary and fixed winged aircraft into the detection of wetlands violations, using technology to developing new methods for conducting wildlife surveys, and using thermal imaging technology in search and rescue, law enforcement and natural resource research.
Safari Club International is a leader in protecting the freedom to hunt and in promoting wildlife conservation worldwide.
