Last night I clean'd my lazer up and it runs like a champ and got to thinking,I bought it in 1994/95 season!WOW how time flies, today I caught a strikemaster ad on their new 4 stroke, lazer. Is this new this season? I'll bet she runs quiet and is easy on gas not to mention more power.

See how I'm talking myself into it...lol

Anyone have some info?

I think your right, but just in case I called Genz,I'm sure he'll know,he gets all the good stuff early. Not sure how much my lazer weighs but this 4 stroke at 20bls would be sweet.I'll let ya know his imput.

Lazer express weighs 24lbs,horse apiece which one is better, the 4 stroke is super quiet and "no" smoke.

The word is "Wait" bigger/better more power is coming for 07,there is also talk of a suburu motor next season as well to run the 9"/10"blades.

FYI

Kinda thought 35cc's was a little lite.

4 stroke anything tends not to start as well in the really cold weather as a two stroke, they also seem to take longer to get up to operating temp. I'm basing this on a few guys I fish with that have ATV's, the guys with the two stoke Polaris machines tend to have an easier time starting and running well in the dead of winter. Maybe strikemaster has this figured out already though.

My prediction around here is some guys will hit the ice this weekend. Cold temps and all small bodies of water are froze up. I would be out myself, but got to head to the cities for a couple days and then sausage making. I may be predicting a little early, but somebody always goes out before most sane people would!

I have seen the 4-Stroke, and it looks very impressive.  But, I just ponied up for a new Jiffy Model 30 last year, so I don't think I'm going to be looking for a new auger anytime soon, besides, I was born a Jiffy-guy.

Hooksets are free!

Strikemaster 4 stroke = on more stroke to worry about!  Hee hee hee.  Plastic flighting, wonder how that'll hold up?  I think it would be a neat engine but I'll never own a Strikemaster that doesn't have a chipper blade flighting.  Is the 4 stroke capable of handling that?  What's the gear ratio on the 4 stroke???

Timmers,

No chipper on this fine "ice melting machine, gear ratio is 60:1Couple guys on the ice team have been using it,super quiet, has 4 blades two are serated, cuts fast and hardly uses fuel.I'll wait for the newer version next year.

I'd definitely wait until the suckers buy them and find all the problems with them.  Just ask Tony about being "that guy"!

I used one of these last year. A guide I was fishing with got one to demo. Could actually have a conversation with somebody without shouting while drilling holes. The thing just ripped through the ice in no time, plent of power. Started up great as well in about 5 degree weather. No issues starting whatsoever. And no nasty, oily smoke like a 2 stroke.

Picked up my new Jiffy auger this week and they had one of these on hand. Very light weight. My guess is on a very cold day in ND the plastic/carbon/synthetic flighting will break in the back of a pickup. Did not look durable enough for my taste. My old Jiffy 10" metal blades bent over the years. Can't imagine how they will hold up to serious fisherman. My .10 worth.

Serious icefishermen have been testing this model out for the past two years, they usually strape their equipement down so the flighting has not been a problem. Two negatives, slightly under power'd for ice over 30"s and they need to add two rows of flighting to clean the hole out, maybe next year we will see the improvements(hope so).
